- Divesting my investments from Israel - Mr. Money Mustache
One caveat: changing your investments does not send a message It risks you feeling that you did something, when that act will not be noticed Your posting in a forum has far more impact than changing investments Calling Vanguard Canada and asking for an Israel divested product does more than actually buying or selling ETFs
- Transferring taxable investments from Vanguard to Fidelity?
For more information, contact a Fidelity Representative" when I try to buy VTSAX, so I would say no, you won't be able to do that I think you can convert the vanguard funds to the ETF equivalent while still at Vanguard without triggering a taxable event (a unique feature of Vanguard funds thanks to a patent they hold)
- Vanguard vs TIAA-Cref advice - Mr. Money Mustache
Right now, for taxable investments, we are balanced 80 20 across both accounts, but Vanguard is a bit heavier in bonds than TIAA-Cref to achieve that « Last Edit: July 15, 2015, 07:33:46 AM by iowajes »
- Vanguard? American Funds? or Fidelity? - Mr. Money Mustache
Vanguard overall seems to expect their investors to be more well-versed in investing market knowledge, so it may be a bit of a learning curve starting out with them if you don't know what you're doing (totally my own opinion and full disclosure, I use Fidelity for my investments, but I was a total noob starting out)
- Anyone move a Solo 401K from Ascensus to elsewhere?
The Solo 401K at Vanguard had no fees as long as you had enough assets at Vanguard (I think it was $50k) The only thing you had to pay for was the normal expense ratio on the funds you purchased Ascensus has multiple fees:
- Withdrawing from Vanguard - Mr. Money Mustache
Yes, Vanguard will send a 1099-B at the end of the year if you sold any shares You'll also get a 1099-DIV for any dividends that were generated from your investments (not related to selling shares) Dividends and capital gains are two different things, so you may want to be sure you are comfortable with the terminology
- Edward Jones to Vanguard - forum. mrmoneymustache. com
We're going to move all of our investments from EJ to Vanguard We don't have the $50K needed at Vanguard to benefit from their lower fees at this time, but I expect we will before too long At EJ we have IRAs, Roths and Money Market Funds We can transfer the IRA Roths "in kind" For the other investments Money Market Fund
- Vanguard vs Fidelity vs. . . Brokerage Mix - Mr. Money Mustache
Moved all investments in the traditional and Roth accounts to the one broker's funds, and moved all investments in the taxable account with minimal capital gains to the one broker's funds Still have a couple of the "other" brokers' funds being held by the one broker, at no extra cost See Stocks
- Wanting to move away from NWM managed investments. . . any advice?
For example, Vanguard's total stock market fund (VTSAX) charges 0 04%, and it's kind of the gold standard for indexes It's on the cheaper end On the more expensive end of good funds, I'd put Fidelity's Growth Fund (FDGRX) that charges 0 68%
- Vanguard transfer - Mr. Money Mustache
I am aware of people buying Vanguard ETFs through another cheaper platform (I think at the time it was Interactive Investor could be wrong) who have cheaper management platform fees than Vanguard but they could still benefit from Vanguards investments, it could be worth it but I am lazy and I like Vanguard so I havent bothered, the biggest
