So I use(d) FileCR a lot, and it works great for macOS apps, but then i went to download a program for Windows from them I downloaded the zip, extracted it, and then, Defender came up with an alert It said There were two files that were identified as 'Wacatac' That scared the shit out of me

I downloaded some apps from filecr it made my Celeron j4025 cripple After deleting the downloaded file by Windows defender made it better again I downloaded ESET,Malwarebytes,Acrobat etc None of them worked

FMHY said FileCR is the bad actor but if you look at the offending files, they're the same ones that get shared on sanet before that and pretty much any other public site The original source of the malware is unknown Since the same offending files are on pretty much all sites, I personally feel like it's wrong to single-out FileCR

On my windows machine I had no problems downloading from fileCR in the past and I haven't ran into any problems with that, though I read on the megathread here that it is not a well reputable site I am relatively new to the space of MacOS and I am not confident in my abilities to find malicious code if there was any on here

If I recall correct, FMHY Collection list FileCR to untrusted source because slow response to uploader that upload malware Personally, I use AppNee to find and install software for friend family BUT with Bitdefender Free Antivirus (yes, I know the "collect info" stuff, but better than nothing)
