Allegedly only seven pieces have been found, but I found a piece of petrified wood that had amber running down the top of it; and around it are scattered drops of it I know it’s amber, but how rare is this?

Got a cool one for you guys: a decent sized scorpion in amber from Burma Probably about 100 million years old The most interesting part to me is the tail sort of curves down 90 degrees perpendicular to the body (you can see it in the last pic side view) and that kind of 3D preservation is rare

Rather than amber, this looks more like botryoidal chalcedony First, this is an interesting specimen, but it is hard to get to a good ID with pictures only I would definitely like to look at it under a microscope to see if there is any evidence of wood cell structure

Does everyone else think we've got amber from Florida? I've seen some calcite gastropod bivalve infills that are pretty wild and that color and some coral replaced heads that color and I'm wondering what they'd look like under closer inspection and if tumbled around on a beach

Amber is formed from tree resin, which is from the outer layers of the tree That looks to be inner, which could mean either chalcedony as suggested or a large-ish pocket of sap that has petrified I've seen small runs of fossilized tree sap in pet wood, but it's always small, thin patches, never something thick like that
