Carfax, as has been mentioned is somewhat voluntary when it comes to dealers I own an independent automotive repair shop and use Carfax to decipher the vin number It is part of the garage management software In doing this any repairs performed at my shop automatically will be reported to Carfax I can't opt out on certain cars

I called the repair shop listed on Carfax and they wouldn't talk specifics with me But in general, the rep said this issue likely wasn't a red flag, as it this is typically a sign that the customer upgraded to performance coils, and one was bad out of the box I actually saw a spark plug change on the Carfax that I missed my first time through

carfax has about 50% of bikes registered just plug the VIN into the search on the homepage and it will run it for free, it just wont tell you what the descriptions are you have to ask A STATE IT WAS TITLED IN, in writing, for a report
