the farmer, however, CAN plant crops there so what you do is you make a small observer clock that is constantly updating the "dark" block this way the villager plants crops there and they immediately break off once the block is updated by the clock the farmer will just stand there feeding it carrots until they are empty and then go to farm

My villager crop farm had that issue If that is what's happening, give the trapped villager a different profession and lock it immediately If the farmer villager cant use his workstation he wont harvest, plant or throw crops Edit: These farms also take a few hours to stabilize in my experience before the food throwing become consistent

Now look at a retired farmer and they typically gain a shit mess of weight from switching to a sedentary lifestyle in the first year because their metabolism is so low but they are used to eating a big meal or look at an agribusiness farmer, who mostly sits all day driving equipment, they don’t have farmer strength
