六四天安門事件 （ろくしてんあんもんじけん）は、 1989年 6月4日 に 中華人民共和国 ・ 北京市 の 天安門広場 を占拠していた 民主化 を求める デモ 隊に対し、 中国人民解放軍 が実力行使し、多数の死傷者を出した事件である。 通常、単に「天安門事件」と呼称する場合はこの事件を指すが [1] 、 1976年 に起きた 四五天安門事件 と区別するため「第二次天安門事件」と呼ばれることもある。 中国の周辺では、2年前の同時期に 台湾の中華民国 ではのち民主化前の一歩前進の戒厳令解除や、韓国の 光州事件 から始まった 民主化闘争の末 の 民主化宣言 が立て続けに起こり、 東アジア の広範囲で民主化の波が押し寄せていた。
