I think most people prefer 1 to 2 2's combat is far more breakable at far earlier a stage and the game sort of pushes you heavily in that direction at times due to how punishing certain systems can be, while 1 is more playable like a normal RPG for the bulk of its runtime

Have you tried installing the old basic version and do some comparisons with vanilla? If that version works, then you can try the latest one with more in-depth tinkering But I’m already more than happy with the basic version

I played Oblivion in 2006 2007, but it didn't hook me at the time I still probably put 10, 15 hours or more into it but I never played it much and got pulled off into other games Always wished I had played it when it came out because I didn't want ot have to step back in time when Skyrim came out (and since then)
