- What the hell is PBO for Ryzen? : r Amd - Reddit
PBO is not an on off setting It unlocks three settings related to power consumption - PPT, TDC, and EDC That's power consumption, sustained current, and short-term current The defaults for the 5900X are 142W, 95A, and 140A, respectively If you reduce those values after turning on PBO, you will reduce your performance
- What is PBO and is it safe? : r buildapc - Reddit
PBO stands for Precision Boost Overdrive It's basically the CPU looking at available power and thermal overhead and deciding that it can use some additional voltage to override the default maximum clockspeed It is completely safe Needs to be enabled in the BIOS And while you're there, make sure that XMP is enabled, as a LOT of folks don't realize that's necessary so their RAM is running at
- PBO Doesnt Do What You Think It Does | Precision Boost . . . - Reddit
PBO might be needed to power the CPU to hit these higher potential boost clocks, but again this is useless in most cases because the Ryzen 3000 chips hit the temperature limit before they reach their even their stock max boost clocks on all core, so increasing the limit on paper doesn't help when the thermal headroom isn't there to do it in
- Do not use Asuss PBO settings page, use only AMDs PBO settings - Reddit
There's multiple places to adjust PBO settings in BIOS, some manufacturers even have 3 different places OP is saying only use the AMD Overclocking section, which I thought was common knowledge, but apparently not
- MSI PBO - What are the different modes? : r Amd - Reddit
For 65W processors like your 3700X, PBO enabled would mean PPT=128 for example I forget what the EDC and TDC default values are, but they're probably reasonable around 100A or less when temp constrained Enhanced modes are PBO presets that change EDC, TDC, and PPT to whatever values MSI deemed "appropriate" for those levels
- Set and forget 5600X PBO, Curve Optimizer -30, which tests for . . . - Reddit
Setting PBO limits to motherboard or manual, means the CPU can draw as much power as it wants, which naturally leads to a nice performance boost, at the cost of the max temperature going up by 10-15 degrees Celsius People need to decide what their goal is and tweak the settings accordingly: Do you want lower temps?
- Ryzen PBO limit - motherboard vs manual : r overclocking - Reddit
Why different behavior from PBO limit "Motherboard" + Ryzen Master to PBO limit "Manual" + same defined values? Additionally after Ryzen master does its first reboot with profile and applies settings
