Paul, thanks for writing I was a fixed wing pilot with an instrument rating and about 800 hours when I ordered my gyro I researched carefully, flew every model that I could and put heavy emphasis on build quality I chose the Auto-Gyro "Cavalon" because of the experienced builder and quality of workmanship

I am not an employee of any gyro company I do however own BOTH a High Thrust Line gyro and a CLT gyro Though is issue is more important with low-time pilots any pilot can get in to a PIO situation Where CLT helps is it not only greatly reduces PIO it 'virtually' elminates the fatal PPO "bunt-over" IMHO CLT is safer peroid IMHO CLT saves lives

Is the radio "grounded" to the chassis of the Gyro, if not you should do this as all electrical components should share a common ground, this could be the cause as you could get harmonic interference from the resonance field caused by the rotational effect of the metal components in the engine, if there is no path to ground then the radio electrical path will be encapsulated by the field

*without running your gyro, turn the handheld on and turn the squelch off or fully down so that you can hear atmospheric back ground noise Tune to an unused quieter frequency You can now establish how much back ground noise you have in the area as a reference on THAT frequency

Gyro is still king when it comes to having to make a emergency landing, as nothing else will land in as small of a space as a gyro ( other than a helicopter ) Gyros are also more attention grabbing if that makes a difference to you, everyone will want to come over and check out a gyro when you land somewhere and ask questions, where as a trike

The technique I developed to track gyro rotors during balancing only works for 2 bladed rotors so for multi-bladed helicopters visual tracking is still used a lot Other balancer manufactures have developed other techniques using lasers etc to visually track in flight Mike G

I recently got my Repairman Certificate for my Gyro Technic VX2 It has a new number different from the Airman Certificate Is that normal for repairman numbers being unique from airman numbers? Related question: If you build a second experimental, is that added to your repairman certificate or is that a unique certificate number for each aircraft?
