    Is the radio "grounded" to the chassis of the Gyro, if not you should do this as all electrical components should share a common ground, this could be the cause as you could get harmonic interference from the resonance field caused by the rotational effect of the metal components in the engine, if there is no path to ground then the radio electrical path will be encapsulated by the field
