Interestingly enough, in daylight, when testing sunset or bedtime mode via flux preferences, manual brightness adjustment via dedicated keys does not trigger flashing, but moving to a room with closed curtains is a surefire way to trigger it Reported this to Apple via feedback app

made an account just to add to this thread so the people who make flux might someday do this: just make it off by default i love flux and i'm still glad i got it, but this "backwards alarm clock" thing is genuinely confusing, i scanned the options menu 3 separate times, thinking i must be missing something, before googling it and finding this

I've found that quitting and restarting the app can fix it There's a little Flux icon up near the clock Spotlight search, it's a circle with a curved line through it You can try quitting there or through force quit, and restarting via Spotlight search (cmd + spacebar)
