- Umpqua hooks are sus | The North American Fly Fishing Forum - sponsored . . .
Umpqua also has a "fly" hook that has 3 barbs, ( They call it the Triple Threat) and VMC introduced that same type of hook It's probable that Umpqua is having their brand of hooks made by a different manufacturer, ( maybe VMC )or even possibly multiple manufacturers
- Chest Pack? | The North American Fly Fishing Forum - sponsored by . . .
I can fit two large sized CF boxes and two large sized Umpqua boxes in the main compartment The "waterproof zipper" isn't such and has cost me a handful of cans of copenhagen I sewed a velcro patch on top and put a fly patch thing on there
- Your favorite fly boxes? Not a fan of UPG LT’s
I’m curious what your favorite fly boxes are I bought some of the Umpqua UPG LT boxes, and this may go against popular option, but I don’t like them The flies are too hard to get in and out of the boxes Good advertising though! The reason i went with the umpqua was because i wanted some thinner, that was the main idea
- Tippet Material | The North American Fly Fishing Forum - sponsored by . . .
I've been fly fishing for 2 years now, and have bought various tippet spools and my question was, what's the difference between the mono tippet material that comes in the 30 yard spools made by Umpqua, Orvis, etc, and the mono material that comes packaged for 'conventional' fisherman in the 300 (or more) yard spools?
- Line cleaning optimisation | The North American Fly Fishing Forum . . .
I use Umpqua Glide and believe it works well When a line seems not right I have regular Bounty Paper Towels under my console and pull the wet line through a towel while putting a good squeeze on it This removes dirt pretty well as evidenced by a brown stripe where the line was pulled through
- Favorite fly boxes | The North American Fly Fishing Forum - sponsored . . .
I don't understand the lack of proper compartment (individual door) boxes available today Seems like an opportunity for somebody to come out with something I carry the C F, but they're awfully thick Tacky only makes single sided boxes, unless you go the Orvis route The Umpqua are super heavy and the slits are a little wonky
- Dai riki hooks? | The North American Fly Fishing Forum - sponsored by . . .
Ive tied with allen, tiemco, daiichi, Dai riki, and umpqua I honestly haven't really noticed a difference in any of them I prefer the umpqua U series, simply because they are easy to get locally and they come in 50 packs for close to the same price as other brands 25 packs Used dozens of bags and only ever had one bad hook
- Tippet leader (Rio vs scientific Angler) | The North American Fly . . .
Umpqua Rio Orvis Trouthunter I've found Trouthunter and Seaguar cheaper on eBay as none of my local places carry either one Late last year, Orvis ran a bunch of theirs on closeout at ridiculously low prices and I stocked up Out of all that I use, Rio is my least favorite
