I would be more inclined to have the Vanguard Wellesley Income Fund (VWINX), which has a slightly higher stock:bond ratio, as the only fund in retirement For every starting year since 2004, the first full calendar year of VTINX, VWINX has supported a higher initial withdrawal rate, with later withdrawals adjusted for inflation, than VTINX

I held VTINX in my SEP and Roth, but pulled out this year once I had lost 12K, against advice from other Bogleheads, because I couldn't take the stress anymore I transferred everything from VTINX into Vanguard Federal Money Market, VMFXX, then put it all in treasury bills (thanks to Kevin M's guidance) as an experiment for three months

Objective is to keep withdrawals very simple for 80 year old spouse after I die The rationale is, spouse is not rich but will have ample cash and is not at all interested or competent to invest after my death
