The RS485 is a bidirectional communication so there is no meaning to use Tx+ or Tx- alone the best notation is A, B But unfortunately here i have to use different identification except A, B (example: Tx+, Tx- or D+, D-)

I red that RS485 works with differential voltages and can tolerate lower voltages than RS232 My question is: Is the label RS485 wrong (since it worked as RS232) or the two standards are compatible? Is it safe to connect my usb cable-converter or the RS232 to TLL module for long periods of time and not endanger the scale unit?

Re: RS485 and PC Hi, If it is appearing as a COM port under Windows, you will be able to communicate through it as a COM port But you will need a matching RS485 device connected to the port Also RS485 ports come as 4-wire full duplex or two wire half duplex What does the user manual of the system say about this port usage?
