- Destroked small blocks - Team Camaro Tech
While I said I was selling all my small block stuff, I'm keeping just enough, until I decide if I can do this I've spun rods in way to many 350s trying to get them to turn high, so I'm looking at a 3 25 or 3" stroke in a 400
- Destroked 400 SBC - Hot Rod Forum
I have been thinking about building a destroked 400 SBC for drag racing It would be a 30 over 400 with a 3 25 stroke crank making it about 350ci I havent purchased parts for it yet just looking for information

The beauty of that combination was that I could use 5 7 inch rods with stock pin height (400 bore) pistons The pistons were a little down in the hole, but it was not a max effort engine With the 327 crank, you would need either custom pin height pistons or custom length rods
- short stroke 400 Chevy - Team Chevelle
If you want a high-revver, build a solid 3 3 4 stroke forged bottom end on that 400 block, and don't skimp on the heads no matter WHAT you end up building My way gets you everything: High revs, plenty 'o displacement, and a set of ports and combustion chambers to supply the demand
- SB 400;Thought Id Share a Recipe with you all - Chevy Nova Forum
I figured that I could de-stroke the sbc 400 and stay under the 406 cubic inches But I was not sure that it would give me as much power as I would need to be competitive
- DE-stroked SBC - race-deZert
We ran a de-stroked 400 (377) and a stroked 350 (3 5 8" for 372ci) in our Bonneville car Though they had very similar peak HP, there was a big difference in the torque curve
- The Sb Destrokers Dream Engine - clubhotrod. com
Larry Nagel built the engines, don't remember the exact setup but it was 3 48 stroke, long rod and a hi $$$$ piston Track had a 400 ci limit then, when it went dry slick we would put the final gear ratio at about 6 70:1, set the chassis very soft, feather-foot the throttle, and run on the bottom!!!!
- 400 Small-Block- Car Craft Magazine - MotorTrend
The long 3 75-inch stroke combined with the 400's short 5 565-inch connecting rods yields a 1 48:1 rod stroke ratio, which is not conducive for building a high-winding engine
- There’s More To Building A Small-Block Stroker Than Just A Bigger . . .
To maintain the same compression height for the 400 small-block as the 350 engine, Chevrolet used a shorter, 5 565-inch connecting rod length All other small-block variants used 5 70-inch-long rods
- Destroked 400 SBC, 364ci - YouTube
Putting this old school SBC back together This is a pieced together motor for sure 4 165 bore, 3 34 stroke crankshaft, 6 200 rod This little thing gets down when the boost is up!
