I am a Part 107 holder, but at this time, for many reasons I fly recreationally 90+% of the time and stick to the recreationally rules when doing so The way I see it, as I have State Farm insurance too, I acknowledge that they only cover recreational flight So were I to have a crash flying recreationally I would have no issue filing a claim

I emailed my local Virginia State farm agent last week, here is his reply~ heck he referred me to another local insurance company Mr ***my name***, I have researched your request and State Farm is very limited on what we can do with High End Photography equipment and Drones It depends on the capacity in which they are used and how often

I'd say, if you fly over country where a crash might make recovery difficult or nearly impossible, or if you fly over bodies of water that are deep, definitely get Care Refresh And if you have several drones, including any expensive ones, you might want to investigate a blanket policy or homeowner's extension from a company like State Farm

I just tried to call my "underwriter" and they said that the drone policy I purchased is called a "personal property policy " Ask your State Farm agent and ask another one in your town if you get a negative response Unless state laws would prohibit it, (which I Don't know), State Farm Insurance most definitely offers this policy

I just got my Mavic the State Farm $60 Personal Articles Policy, so I should be good with that However I was wondering if anyone thinks that it may be worthwhile getting a membership of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (Academy of Model Aeronautics), just to take advantage of their enhanced insurance options;

In the US I believe State Farm cover is the most common outside DJI Care Refresh, and it is usually the minimum charge of US$60 in most states there (US$2 75 $100 cover, min $30 or $60 depending on state of residence )

I would ditch both Best Buy and DJI's plan, and go for State Farm drone insurance For $79 year, your Mavic 3 is covered for all damage scenario (including fly away) with zero deductible Attachments

The DJI is fine, but as cheap as State Farm typically is; no reason to spend more for insurance than you have to and DJI is usually more I never used my "Refresh" I had on my Air2 - but had it before finding State Farm and a few others had drone insurance Sadly, my carrier - USAA - does not offer it and won't cover under homeowners etc
