- RESPONDING TO ONE NO-TRUMP OPENING BID (incl. Transfers)
RESPONDING TO ONE NO-TRUMP OPENING BID (incl Transfers) It must be emphasised that the following is an introduction to the various responses, suitable for beginners (it is assumed that there is no interference bidding)
- Bridge -- Responding to 1NT
Standard American Responses to 1NT 2C = Stayman, asking partner to bid a 4-card major if he has one (see below) Bid 2C with: ♠QJ32 K5 ♦K763 ♣943 2D, 2H or 2S = Signoff, showing a 5+-card suit and 0-7 points It tells partner that you think 2 of a trump suit is safer than 1NT Partner must pass
- Lesson 10 – Responses to 1 No Trump Opening Bid More Precise . . .
In order to understand this lesson, you should feel confident using Method 1 from Lesson 2 (using Stayman and Jacoby Transfers in response to 1 No Trump) Note: If you or your partner opened the bidding in a suit and one of you responded 1 No Trump, that is not an opening bid and none of this applies
- RESPONDING TO NO TRUMP OPENING BIDS - web4dmarch. com
When your partner opens the bidding with a no trump bid, you have the most information about the strength and shape of partnership's combined hands This means that you, the responder, must direct the partnership to the final contract and your partner, the opener, must follow your direction
- NOTRUMP OPENING BIDS -- PART 1 of 3 - Larry Cohen
RESPONSES to 1NT: On the 2-level, everything is natural and not forcing (example: 1N-2;2 -2) On the 3-level, a raise is invitational, of course Other 3-level bids are discussed here On the 4-level, a raise to game is to play, other bids are splinter bids (example: 1N-2;2 -4)
- INTRODUCTION THE 1NT RESPONSE 1NT - No Fear Bridge
For full information see the course on responding The 1NT response to an opening bid is different from other No Trump bids in that it doesn’t promise a balanced hand The hand could be balanced or unbalanced It simply shows a point count It says ‘I don’t have 4 cards in my partner’s suit’
- Responding to 1NT with 10-12 points - 60SecondBridge
Being left to play in a 1 No Trump contract can be difficult to play, often the opposition ends up with more points than you, so when your partner opens 1NT you must think about the difficulty s he will be in if you leave them to play there
